Privacy Information

This policy applies to the handling of personal information that is collected via the Addictions Foundation Of Manitoba web site.

Logging of Site Visitors

Like most web servers, the Addictions Foundation Of Manitoba (AFM) server collects some information about visitors to the site. However, the server only logs the domain name of visitors. Depending on the setup of your internet service provider (ISP), this information may identify who you are; you may wish to contact your ISP for more information in this regard. The log data is analyzed for trends and statistics, and then aggregated.

We also use “cookies”, or small pieces of information that we store on user’s computers (see definition below), to recognize returning visitors and monitor traffic through our site. Cookies identify you as a unique visitor to our site enabling us to effectively aggregate site usage statistics to improve our website and make it more user-friendly.

What is a Cookie?

A cookie is a small file containing an ID number that is stored on user’s computers. It is transferred to your hard drive by a Web server, and can be read by that server. A cookie will not transmit information that you did not provide us. Cookies are used, for example, to help identify unique visitors to a Web site and/or help the user access their own data from a Web server data base.

Collecting Personal Information To Provide Requested Services

Any personal information that you provide through the AFM’s Website is collected in compliance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). The personal information that you provide will be used only for the purpose(s) for which it is collected, and will not be used in any other way without your consent.

When you send AFM an e-mail, AFM will use your name and e-mail address to respond to your concern or question. Your e-mail may be shared with appropriate people within the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba to help us respond to your concern or question.

As a user, you should be aware that when you are on the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba website, you could be directed to other sites that are beyond our control. There are links to other sites from the AFM website pages that take you outside our service. The AFM website policy does not extend to anything that is inherent in the operation of the Internet and therefore beyond the AFM’s control, and is not to be applied in any manner to applicable law or government regulation.

This website links users to sites neither maintained nor under the control of AFM.
